The Dubai-based Drake & Scull International's German arm has sealed two key deals for water and wastewater treatment facilities in India worth AED50 million ($13.6 million) in total.
Passavant-Roediger has revealed that it will be able to strengthen its place in the budding water and wastewater treatment sector in the country through these major deals.
DSI, on the other hand, has considerable exposure in India, and has accomplished several projects in the country's energy sector. Moreover, it is now engaged in the New Cuffe Parade development and the Lodha World Crest Tower in Mumbai, as well as a Coal Conveyor project in Odisha.
As part of the first contract, the company, a 100% German subsidiary of DSI, will assume work for Ford India at the latter's new vehicle and engine assembly facility at Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
Following the terms of the first pact, Passavant-Roediger will carry out design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical works for an effluent treatment unit with a planned treatment capacity of 8 million litres of river water daily and a wastewater processing facility.
Passavant has secured the second contract from the Government of Rajasthan, under which it will commence complete testing and commissioning of 80-km of sewer system and all associated works, comprising construction of manholes, sewage pump houses and increasing main and property connections in Nathdwara town.
Adhering to the second contract, the company will also offer operation and maintenance services across civil, mechanical, electrical and automation areas for the sewer system and the sewage pumping station for a 10-year period.
The MD of Passavant-Roediger Dr Mazen Bachir stated, "We are delighted to have secured major projects in India, which we see as one of our key emerging markets for water and wastewater management.
"We see tremendous potential and opportunities in this market and we will continue to pursue our strategy to establish a greater presence in the growing Indian market and utilise DSI's existing resources, personnel and network of offices to secure projects across India."
In 2009, DSI bought Passavant in order to boost its capacities in the growing water and wastewater sector of the region.
