Oman : ITA and MOH sign eHealth portal pact

The Information Technology Authority and Ministry of Health inked an agreement with ICT Health LLC, an Oman-based software development company, to execute and design the eHealth Portal for the Ministry of Health. Ali Talib al Hinai, Under-Secretary of Ministry of Health for Planning Affairs, Salim Sultan al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA and Fareed al Hinai, Vice Chairman, ICT Health inked the agreement at ITA premises in Knowledge Oasis Muscat on 11 March 2014. ICT Health LLC, in collaboration with Sweden-based Monator Technologies AB, will execute and design the eHealth Portal for the Ministry of Health.

The portal shall be a one stop access point for users seeking information or services from Ministry of Health. Ali al Hinai on the occasion of the agreement said, "The primary aim of ITA and Ministry of Health to launch the eHealth portal is to provide services and quality healthcare for all citizens and residents." The portal goal is to provide users with comprehensive and up-to-date information of the Ministry of Health's Services, Announcements, and special features offered by the Ministry and its affiliated organisations etc. Hinai said, "We want the portal to serve as a role model for all government entities through empowering users with a range of quality e-services and mobile services such as appointment scheduling, pre-employment health check-up, blood bank related services, registering of pharmacies, clinics and hospitals, online patient records."

Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA said, "This is an important agreement for ITA and is another breakthrough towards e.oman national strategy and eGovernment transformation plan. As well-known, the quality of eHealth services is a key evaluation criterion to measure how nations are progressed and advanced in the field of ICT."
