UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met in Albanian capital Tirana Ditmir Bushati, Albania's Foreign Minister, and discussed with him avenues of joint cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The two ministers also exchanged views on a variety of issues of mutual concern and latest regional and international developments.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the UAE's keenness on expanding prospects of cooperation ties with Albania.
For his part, the Albanian foreign minister expressed his hope for further strong ties with the UAE, praising progress and development the UAE has achieved in all walks of life.
At the end of the meeting, the two ministers signed an agreement on avoidance of double taxation on income. The two countries also inked two memoranda of understanding on establishment of a joint UAE-Albania committee and on cooperation in higher education and scientific research.
In a joint press conference with his Albanian counterpart, the UAE Foreign minister expressed satisfaction at the progress of relationship between the UAE and Albania, stressing that his current trip to Tirana would contribute to taking the good ties to new heights.
He noted that bilateral ties had seen remarkable development since the two countries established diplomatic ties in June 1992 thanks to regular exchange of high-level visits by leaders in the two countries over the years.
Sheikh Abdullah said his meetings with his Albanian counterpart was the third in the past six months.
He added that the signing of the financial economic and education agreements today underscored the UAE's quest to further strengthen its bonds with Albania.
