Alstom T&D India declared that it has secured a contract worth euro 20.1 million from state-run Power Grid Corp to deliver transmission equipment across north India.

The company stated, "Alstom T&D India has secured a euro 20.1 million (Rs.161 crore) contract from Power Grid for upgrading transmission substations at 14 sites across five Indian states, and 765 KV reactors at Bhiwani (Haryana)."

It added, "The expansion will aid reliable power supply in north India by reducing transmission line overloading and improving grid stability."

Alstom said that substations will be upgraded at Bhiwani, Hissar, Allahabad, Kanpur, Singrauli, Kota, Koteshwar, Rajpura, Panchkula, Patiala, Dhuri, Makhu, Muktsar and Nakodar in the northern region of the country.

The turnkey project includes design, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of substation equipment, alongwith civil works.

The company said, "Over 50% of India's 765 KV extra-high voltage substations are built with Alstom technology and solutions, demonstrating Alstom T&D India's significant contribution to the transmission backbone of the country."
