Alstom T & D India Ltd. and Alstom Grid UK Ltd. has won a contract worth €22.75 million from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL).
The contract is for supply and upgrade of high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter transformers which will strengthen the 1000 MW HVDC station at Bhadrawati in Maharashtra, India, which interconnects and moves surplus power from West India to South India.
The turnkey contract features designing, engineering, production, refurbishing, erection and commissioning of HVDC converter transformers (234 MVA, 400kV).
Production of these transformers will be carried out in Alstom's facilities located in Vadodara, India and in Stafford in UK.
Alstom T&D India Managing Director Rathin Basu stated that, "Alstom's future-ready high quality HVDC products and solutions are pivotal to bulk power transport in India. With our world class transformer facilities across Vadodara, Gujarat and Naini, Uttar Pradesh in India, Alstom offers the widest range of fully localized Alternating Current and HVDC transformer solutions up to 800kV."
