UNITED STATES : Arkansas Signs $70 Million Medicaid Contract Extension with HP
Publish Date : 21-Oct-2011
HP Enterprise Services announced that the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Medical Services has extended its long-time service agreement with HP to manage the state’s Medicaid program.
The $70 million, 27-month contract will assist the state in preparing for healthcare reforms and other pending changes while helping align Medicaid expenses with state revenues.
“In preparation for the regulatory challenges ahead and an increasing need for our services, we are focused on streamlining costs and using technology to help ensure the delivery of high-quality medical services to our beneficiaries,” said Eugene I. Gessow, director, Division of Medical Services, Arkansas Department of Human Services. “For more than 25 years, we have looked to HP’s expertise to support our goals and maintain technical innovation to help providers deliver vital services efficiently and effectively.”
HP helps Arkansas manage Medicaid benefits for more than 770,000 Arkansans. The company processes more than 38 million claims worth more than $4 billion a year for about 30,000 Arkansas healthcare providers.
Under previous contracts, HP implemented a decision support system that gives staff members easy access to data to support the department’s programs and policies. The system increases productivity and lowers costs while providing better support for health policy decision making.
