AUSTRALIA: AGC wins A$22m Rio Tinto Iron Ore plant contract
Publish Date : 25-Oct-2011
AGC Industries Pte Ltd, has secured a contract to build a plant at the Rio Tinto operated mine in Western Australia for A$22 million (US$22.8 million), boostings its order book to A$330 million.
AGC will design, install, construction and commission the low grade iron ore pilot plant which is scheduled to start production in February 2012.
The plant will allow Rio Tinto to tap into large quantities of previously less-marketable, lower grade ores of relatively higher impurity and also conduct large scale testing for future lower grade feed types while also providing valuable information to enhance the ore output from the Brockman site.
\'This contract award underlines the excellent relationship we have built with Rio Tinto, while demonstrating our ability to deliver construction projects using local resources,\'said Stuart Kenny, AusGroup acting managing director and CEO.
