UNITED STATES : Huntington Ingalls awarded13M contract for DDG 1000 work

Huntington Ingalls Industries announced that the company\'s Ingalls Shipbuilding division has been awarded a $13 million contract for continued work on the U.S. Navy\'s Zumwalt class of destroyers. This is a modification to a previously awarded contract.
Work would be conducted at Ingalls Shipbuilding yards in Pascagoula and Gulfport, which includes providing technical and industrial engineering in the representation and application of the complete design for supporting development as well as the maintenance of the ship design.
Ingalls is engaged in developmet of the deckhouse, hangar and peripheral vertical launch systems for DDG 1000 and DDG 1001, with further plans for building a third.
The delivery of the deckhouse for DDG 1000 is likely to be during the Q2 of 2012.
