AUSTRALIA : Neumann Contractors awarded Wide Bay reconstruction works
Publish Date : 05-Nov-2011
Queensland-based Neumann Contractors has been awarded a $26 million contract to reconstruct Wide Bay/Burnett region’s flood and rain-damaged roads.
Federal Minister Assisting the Queensland Floods Recovery Joe Ludwig said the contract was the first of many Operation Queenslander packages across the Wide Bay/Burnett region totalling $260 million.
Queensland Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace said Operation Queenslander was the largest reconstruction effort in the state’s history with works on the Fraser Coast having started in the last week.
This first package of works will repair more than 30 kilometres of road and is expected to be completed mid-next year.
The program of works is being funded by the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), a joint initiative, where the Gillard Government provides 75 per cent of the funding, with 25 per cent from the Bligh Government.
