Fred Olsen Energy ASA (FOE) announced that its drilling subsidiary Dolphin Drilling has been awarded two contracts worth more than $1.4 billion from Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (APC) for its drillship Belford Dolphin and a newbuild to run offshore Mozambique
The company stated that each of the deals will be operated for four years.
The first deal is valued at $701 million for Belford Dolphin, which will be commencing in January 2012 in direct continuation of the unit\'s existing employment with Anadarko, while the second contract worth around $727 million including a mobilisation fee of $15 million, is for a drillship presently under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., which will be operational in the Q4 of 2013.
Fred Olsen Energy stated that along with the new building\'s employment it will be investing $35 million in a second blow out preventer (BOP).
