AUSTRALIA : VDM Wins $31m in BHP contracts

Design and construction company VDM Group has won $30.6 million in two contracts from BHP Billiton.
The first contract awarded is an alteration to the existing contract with BHP Billiton Iron Ore for its Central REG Camp project at the Area C mine. It is to include the main installation of a central accommodation camp at its Central REG Camp project in WA\'s Pilbara region. Work will commence immediately and is due for completion in August 2012.
The company has signed a second contract with BHP Billiton Petroleum for the design and construction of administration control and warehouse maintenance buildings at the Macedon Gas Project, near Onslow. Work on this project will commence immediately and is due for completion in July 2012.
Andrew Broad, VDM\'s chief executive officer, said these contracts reflects the fact that the construction industry is regaining in the market and is prospering.
With these contracts in hand, VDM\'s total contract value during this financial year, amounts to $130 million.
