Publish Date : 15-Dec-2011

BAE System announced that it has received a Ł59 million contract to supply spares and ground support equipment to support the Hawk training aircraft operations.

Defence Land Systems India (DLSI), a joint venture between BAE Systems and Mahindra & Mahindra, has started supplying small, but strategically important, order from the police in the Eastern state of Jharkhand for BAE\'s mine protected vehicle.

“The Indian Air Force has one of the largest fleets of Hawks anywhere in the world, and this contract is vital to ensure the continued availability of the fleet. This new order strengthens the robust production platform established by our partner HAL for the aircraft, which remains the benchmark advanced jet trainer in service today,” said Guy Griffiths, BAE Systems\' Group Managing Director, International.

With this latest contract BAE reinforce its relationship with the Indian Air Force (IAF) and aircraft manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Hawk is manufactured in India under license by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited with materials, parts and support services offered by BAE Systems.
