Publish Date : 23-Dec-2011
The European Parliament and the British Telecom signed a €120m deal, under which BT will offer information technology and professional services across three locations.
These contract demands BT to deliver supply parliament with networked IT services for its telecommunications infrastructures and systems in Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg.
BT will offer technologies such as IP telephony, unified communications, video-conferencing, telepresence, security and internet access and equipment including intelligent switches, routers and broadband multiplexers over the three locations.
BT already holds a contract with the European Union to provide wide area network services, and offers EU institutions with internet access and consultancy.
“I am extremely proud to announce these large government sector contracts. Our extensive portfolio of services and our professional services capabilities were instrumental in winning these deals. Our consultancy and systems integration expertise is increasingly recognized in the industry. I want to thank the European parliament for the trust they put in BT,” said Luis Alvarez, president of BT Global Services\' EMEA and Latin America section.
“BT put together a competitive and strong offering which really stood out. Their highly-skilled integration experts and a vendor agnostic approach should enable us to implement all communication infrastructures and services according to our Call for Tender specifications. This makes me confident that we have chosen the right partner, who will help our organization to become more efficient and reduce costs,” said a parliament spokesman.
