India: HC issues notice to BBMP

The High Court has issued notice to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on a petition challenging legality of BBMP’s tender on transportation of solid waste in BBMP limits. While hearing the petition filed by SRP Clean Enviro Engineers Private Limited, Justice Nagamohandas issued notice to BBMP and asked it to file objections. BBMP had invited applications for transportation of municipal waste in BBMP limits following which Matha Overseas Limited and Canara Overseas Limited took part in the tender.
The petitioner had stated though both the companies belonged to a single owner, two different tender applications were filed. Moreover, the petitioner argued, to help Matha Oversees and Canara Overseas bag the contract, BBMP had modified the terms and conditions of the tender.
