Publish Date : 30-Dec-2011

General Electric Co.\'s transportation sector intends to invest $72 million to put up a diesel-engine plant and modernize an existing plant in Grove City, continuing 100 current jobs and introducing 150 extra by early 2013.

The producer of rail, mining and transportation-associated products stated it will invest $35 million to construct the new diesel engine manufacturing plant and put in an extra $37 million in 2011 and 2012.

The latest facility will be situated in a current GE site. Around 100 workers will shift from the existing plant to the new plant location where a sum of 250 will be working. Production is programmed to start by the end of next year.

The call for a new plant is since GE anticipates demand for remanufacturing services to boost considerably in approaching years. This boost will be driven by schedule locomotive overhaul cycles and the need to fulfill with stringent Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards for diesel engines by 2013.
