INDIA : TAMIL NADU to set up 600 MW thermal power station

Tamil Nadu government declared that it will be building a new 600 MW thermal power station close to Ennore, in a bid to boost the power producing capacity of the state.

The state government will build the new ultra modern \'Alternate Ennore Thermal Power Station\' at a cost of Rs 3600 crore.

The new station will cover more than 900 acres and will succeeds the old power producing engines and start functioning by 2015 end.

The existing Ennore Thermal Power Station has five units with a capacity of 450 MW and have been functioning since 40 years and some engines have developed snags.
