Publish Date : 04-Jan-2012
Cemig (Companhia Energetica de Minas Gerais) announced that it has selected a consortium, including Orteng and Camargo Correa led by Alstom for a $77.7 million project to carry out refurbishment of the generation and transmission equipment at the Sao Simao hydro plant.
Under the project, Alstom will refurbish turbines, speed governors and generators, replace the excitation system, and will also perform supervision, commissioning and supply of the transformer and instrumentation, while Orteng will look after the engineering, integration and supply of auxiliary electrical equipment, including supervision and commissioning. Camargo Correa will be responsible for revamping hydromechanical equipment and dismounting and erection.
It is estimated that the project will be completed by 2018 and schedule to boost Sao Simao’s lifecycle up to 30 years.
Philippe Delleur, President of Alstom Brazil said, “Brazil has an important market to be explored in refurbishment of hydro plants. Together with investments in new plants, we need to reinforce the capability of the plants that we already have and could produce more energy using systems and products updated.”
