INDIA : AAI plans Rs 20 crore investment in Pune international airport

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced its plans to make an investment of Rs 20 crore in Pune international airport.
As per the plan, AAI will assume three projects, such as the construction of six hangars, setting up a large cover on the front side of the main terminal building of the airport and construction of a new administrative building of AAI. The authority has already issued tenders for these projects, which is likely to be finalised by the end of February.
P S R K Sudhakar, Director of Pune International Airport, said, \"The six hangars will house small private planes at the airport.\"
According to Sudhakar, the cover on the front of the main terminal building will be 180 metres long and 30 feet deep. The three projects will be carried out in a phased manner and will be completed in about 1-year.
Sudhakar said, \"This is being constructed for the benefit of travellers flying out of the airport or reaching Pune. This canopy would be an added cover for the passengers during the rainy season or extreme heat.\"
AAI is planning an advanced three-storey administration building besides the main terminal building. After the completion of construction, AAI and Central Industrial Security Force at Pune airport will move to the new building.
Sudhakar added, \"This would enable us to use our present AAI and CISF offices in the main terminal building for passenger-related purposes. At present, we are handling over 8,000 passengers a day.”
