OMAN : YYCH secures RIAL 9.2 million catering and hospitality subcontract

Yummi Yummi Catering and Hospitality (YYCH) in Muscat has secured 9.2-million-rial catering and hospitality subcontract for serving the Bechtel Enka Joint Venture (BE JV) which is undertaking the Muscat International Airport development project (MC3).

During its 30-month contract period, the firm is expected to supply over 13 million meals to the staff.

Abdullah Khalfan Ahmad Al Ruzeiqi, YYCH chairman, said, “We are delighted by the confidence placed on us by BE JV. And we see this as a great opportunity for YYCH to become a competitive service provider in the hospitality industry.”

Sunny Mervin, CEO of YYCH, said, “Food is a very sensitive issue and it is to be handled with great care to ensure that there are no adverse effects on consumers. In line with this, we have already appointed a consultant to ensure that we are an ISO 22000 certified catering company.”

The contract presenting event was organized at Grand Hyatt Hotel, and was attended by officials of BE JV. YYCH hosted the event in association with Nawras, the official communication partner of YYCH. HE Asoka Girihagama, Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Sultanate was also present.

Sunny added, “Yummi Yummi has commenced, established and are in the process of implementing the ISO 22000: 2005 Food Safety Management System Standard.”

Gerald Fonseka, general manager of YYCH, said, “We will be providing catering, housekeeping, laundry and janitorial services to Bechtel Enka JV staff camp. And we will be catering to over 8,000 workers on a daily basis.”
