Sanitaryware and bath fittings producer in Japan, Toto has plans to develop a production unit at Halol in the Panchmahals district of Gujarat, with an investment of $76 million. In this regards, the State Government has inked a memorandum of understanding with Toto, in the presence of the Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi.
The plant will be developed in three phases, and its annual capacity will be of producing five lakh units in the first phase. Being first plant of Toto in India, it is expected to generate around 500 employment opportunities.
During the coming years, the State Government have plans to form a special Japanese townships around the Dholera Special Investment Region and other industrial zones, considering the inflow of Japanese investments.
The company has plans to complete work on the plant by 2013 and to make it commercial operational by July 2014.
