The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has awarded a prime contract to Science Applications International Corp. or SAIC (SAI) to provide software development integration and testing services in support of the USPTO\'s Automated Information Systems.

The contract which is a multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity or IDIQ contract with a one year base period of performance, and has four one-year options, has a total ceiling value of $525 million for all awardees, only in case if all options are exercised.

SAIC will be responsible for providing software development integration and testing services needed in the areas like configuration and program management, production support, and software maintenance and transition. SAIC is even accountable to help integrate commercial technology products with customized software and database applications as required.

SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, Doug Wagoner, said, “SAIC\'s extensive capability in agile software development and testing support services will enable the USPTO to further its mission to protect IP in the U.S. and internationally, and to improve the overall patent and trademark prosecution process.”

Mainly, work is to be performed in the National Capital Region or NCR.
