A US$14m (Ł9m) design and supervision contract for the Qatar Petroleum headquarters development in Doha has been awarded to Aecom.

Aecom chairman and chief executive officer John Dionisio said: “When completed, this district will create a ‘central hub’ for local and international businesses in Doha.”

As per the contract, Aecom will offer design, fit-out and contractor management for the 7.5m sq ft mixed-use development, comprising nine office tower buildings, a 405-room hotel with meeting facilities and a multi-storey car park.

Previously known as Barwa financial district, the construction is due to be completed in March 2014.
