INDIA : Rs 225-cr Project for ESSAR PROJECTS

Essar Projects Ltd (EPL) has secured a contract for the development of the roll-on roll-off (ro-ro) facility in Gujarat. The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth Rs 225-crore was awarded by the State port regulator, Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB).
The contract is for developing the ro-ro ferry service terminal for connecting Ghogha in Bhavnagar district and Dahej in Bharuch district, thereby connecting South Gujarat with the Saurashtra region.
The ro-ro ferry facility for transportation of passenger and goods through the sea route, via the Gulf of Cambay (Khambhat), aims at reducing the distance between the two places to just 31 km from 360 km. This will result in saving fuel costs and travel time.
Contract awarded to Essar Projects comprises of designing and building of the ro-ro service terminals at Ghogha as well as Dahej, an approach bund of 609 meters, trestle of 562 m, seven Dolphins spread over 84 m, a link span of 96 m and a pontoon, reclamation and also constructing a bund or rock revetment of 488 m.
The project is expected to conclude within next 15 months.
