UNITED STATES : Drilling contractor Ensco wins the $480 million valued Anadarko Petroleum contract

For the final ultra-deepwater semi-submersible rig for its 8500 series, US independent Anadarko Petroleum gave Drilling contractor Ensco the contract which is valued around $480 million.
For the preliminary two-and-a-half years, The Ensco 8506 has been hired by the Anadarko with a rate of $530,000, and cost adjustments.
The newly constructed rig has the ability to drill upto a depth of 35,000 feet, is to be transported from Singapore yard Keppel Fels in the third quarter and to be operational by the fourth quarter in the Gulf of Mexico.
Ensco 8500 was the first rig which was used in the Lucius discovery. Ensco 8505 was contracted as a part of a rig sharing agreement with Apache and Noble Energy.
