UNITED STATES : Carpenter to build $500 million facility for remelting, forging, finishing premium alloys

Carpenter Technology, Wyomissing, Pa., is strengthening its core premium metals business by constructing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Limestone County, Alabama. The new $500 million facility will include remelting, forging, and associated finishing and testing capabilities. It is expected to be in operation by early 2014.
The new facility will ultimately be capable of producing approximately 27,000 tons per year of additional premium product and will be designed with modern technology and optimum product flow to meet customer requirements for reduced lead times. The facility is being built in response to strong customer demand for premium alloy products, primarily in the fast-growing aerospace and energy industries.
