ZAMBIA : ADB to provide US$80 million to ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT towards construction of Kazungula Bridge

A loan deal is been inked between the African Development Bank and the ministry of finance.
Through this deal, the bank will provide US$80 million facilitating the construction of Kazungula bridge.
According to Freddie Kwesiga, resident representative of Africa Development bank, the bank is pleased for partnering towards the construction of the bridge which has been on the drawing board for a period of last 40 years. For making sure that the construction of the bridge is completed within the set four year schedule, the bank will be working with JICA, its corporate partner.
Finance minister Alexander Chikwanda has revealed that US$260 million is required for constructing the bridge, which will serve as an important infrastructure to the SADDC region. The Kazungula project would include the construction of a new road and rail bridge.
