Pratt & Whitney\'s PW4170 Advantage70 engine will be powering five new Airbus A330 aircraft of Korean Air. The airline headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, has signed a $200 million deal in this respect for 10 firm PW4170 engines.
Todd Kallman, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines & Global Services president said, “We are proud that Korean Air, one of the world\'s top airlines, has again selected Pratt & Whitney engines to power their new Airbus A330 aircraft. This agreement further strengthens our already strong relationship.”
International cargo airlines, Korean Air, offers flights to 119 cities serving around 40 countries.
Pratt & Whitney offers the Advantage70 as a new engine as well as a modernized kit for existing PW4168 engines.
The upgrade of technology is been done which can be incorporated into a fleet at the time of engine repair. Advantage70 technology results in superior engine performance, ensuring a 2% thrust increase, over 1% less usage of fuel, better durability, along with comparatively less maintenance costs.
