GERMANY,UNITED STATES : IMS SYSTEMS to set up $3.5 million production plant in Adams
Publish Date : 22-Feb-2012
German-owned company IMS Systems Inc declared plans for the construction of a $3.5 million production plant in Adams, Butler County, adjacent to its headquarters.
The company is likely to complete the project in October or November and at first it will use the facility for research and development. It is expected that up to 20 staff will be appointed, when the plant is operational.
The company will held aground-breaking ceremony for the 9,500-square-foot plant, which will be making IMS\'s first gauges made outside Germany, on Thursday.
John Buckman, general manager and vice president of operations at the company, “We look to ramp up to commercial production, assuming we get all the regulatory approvals, by 2014.”
Buckman said, “The Company chose Western Pennsylvania for the site because it and the Great Lakes region are home to many metals companies and because a Pittsburgh site could serve new clients in the Southeast.”
He added, “‘Not a penny’ of the $3.5 million project funding is publicly subsidized. It\'s completely an investment by our parent company. It\'s German investment in an American company.”
