Publish Date : 10-Jul-2017
After inking a $2.5 billion deal for the supply of Barak 8 defensive missiles to the Indian army, Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) is gearing up for an Indian Ministry of Defense (MoD) tender for the procurement of dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
According to company sources, Indian UAV procurement would amount to multi- million dollars. IAI has offered its Heron model UAVs to India.
The company said it had inked a cooperation deal with Indian firms Dynamatic Technologies and Elcom Systems for production, assembly, and support involving IAI's UAV-related projects in India.
The deals with the two firms, including the transfer of know-how from Israel to India, were drawn up many months ago, but were inked recently in the framework of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel.
During the visit, IAI has inked a further two cooperation deals with Indian companies.
IAI said that these deals will allow it to expand its Indian business.
It added that they will also improve the company's chance of bagging future tenders in the country.
