THAILAND : Siemens Energy gets two wind power contracts in Thailand

Publish Date : 28-Feb-2012

Siemens Energy has obtained two major wind power contracts for a total of 90 wind turbines with a combined capacity of roughly 200MW for two wind farm plants, Korat 1 and Korat 2, in Nakorn Rachasrima Province in Northeastern Thailand.

K.R. Two Company Ltd. is the customer for Korat 1 project whereas First Korat Wind Co. Ltd. is the customer for Korat 2 project. Both companies are subsidiaries of Wind Energy Holding Co. Ltd.

As per the contracts, Siemens Energy will be responsible for the delivery, installation and commissioning of 90 Siemens-wind turbines of type SWT-2.3-101. The installation of both projects will start in spring 2012 whereas commissioning is due for the end of 2012.

The new powerful wind turbine SWT-2.3-101 has a rotor diameter of 101 meters and is perfect for sites with low to medium wind speeds. It will offer additional power at lower wind speeds, considerably boosting the return on investment of wind farms.

Kay Weber, CEO of Siemens Wind Power Business Unit APAC, said, \"The market entry in Thailand proves that our business gains momentum in Asia. We are confident that we will receive more orders in this dynamic region.”
