Qatar : QPMC invites EoI to develop Khatmat Milaha gabbro quarries

Publish Date : 31-Aug-2017

Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) is seeking expression of interest (EoI) and for prequalification, as it will develop gabbro quarries in Khatmat Milaha.

The plan is to develop a 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) quarry with the high-tech facilities.

Dark, coarse-grained rock, similar to basalt, Gabbro, is said to have been formed with molten magma getting trapped beneath the Earths surface and slowly cooling into crystalline mass. Generally known as black granite, these are used in the building industry and as paving stones and in kitchens.

As per the tender notification, the project comprises crushing and screening facilities for 3 mtpa, upgradable to 7 mtpa, producing four grades of gabbro.

Interested parties can also be in the form of partnerships. They will need to have experience in quarry operations as also marine projects, particularly open sea jetties.

The company will need to set up a storage area of around 140,000 sqm to stock the product near the quarry.

Apart from this, it will also have to develop infrastructure facilities such as buildings and roads, ensure supply of power and water and make arrangements for drainage, firefighting, CCTV, telephone and Internet connectivity.
