Kazakhstan : NCOC awards two offshore contracts for Caspian Sea to Synertec
Publish Date : 06-Sep-2017
North Caspian Operating Company NV (NCOC) has awarded two design and supply contracts to Australia-based SML's subsidiary Synertec for operations off the coast of Kazakhstan.
As per these contracts, Synertec will have to take up the design and supply of instrumentation, electrical and mechanical equipment associated with NCOCs offshore business in the Caspian Sea.
Synertec managing director Michael Carroll said, The contracts with NCOC, whilst initially small, were secured following their extensive pre-qualification process of international organisations and will provide future opportunities for Synertec.
In our view, the contracts are testament that Synertec can secure highly complex projects, both domestically and internationally and supports the strategy of adopting a more global perspective.
NCOC acts as the operator of activities under the 5,600km North Caspian Sea production sharing agreement (NCSPSA) area. The area hosts the Kashagan field claimed to be one of the largest petroleum developments worldwide.
The field, which is located in a harsh offshore environment at the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea includes an area of around 75km by 45km. Location of the petroleum reservoir is nearly 4,200m below the shallow waters of the northern part of the Caspian Sea.
Synertec deals in offering specialist engineering and compliance services across various industries covering oil and gas, biotechnology, industrial automation, and petrochemical.
