UNITED KINGDOM : Contracts for procure and finance of 20 EMUs secured by ANGEL TRAINS

Publish Date : 05-Mar-2012

For procurement and finance of 20 new Class 350 Desiro electric multiple-units (EMUs) which is Ł131million worth, is secured by UK train lessor Angel Trains.

According to the contract, Siemens will provide 10 units to existing London Midland fleet and 10 units to First TransPennine Express (TPE).

In order to strengthen London Midland’s existing commuter services in London and along the West Coast Main Line, new EMUs will be employed.

And on the newly electrified services between Manchester and Scotland the TPE will use the trains.

“The finalization of these contracts with London Midland and TPE is a significant milestone. We are also delighted to add First TransPennine Express to our list of customers. The combining of orders for London Midland and First TransPennine Express with an existing train specification means we can deliver value for money by reducing the whole-life cost of operating the fleets, said Kevin Tribley, chief operating officer for Angel Trains.

He added, “This is also a great example of how, as a lessor, we are able to add additional value, financially and operationally, into the rail industry.”
In winter 2013, the new trains will be in operation and the final batch for London Midland will be commenced in April 2014.
