A massive project: the unique biology building and the heliport
As part of the implementation of the 2012-2017 school project, the University Hospital of Montpellier has embarked on the realization of an Architectural Master Plan whose ambition is, in the long term, to modernize all of its infrastructures. promoting the consolidation of care activities on a single site.

The first step of this project is the construction of a single biology building that will allow the consolidation of 19 biology, pathology and genetics laboratories, currently spread across many buildings in the facility. This phase will also help prepare the CHU's main site (the Lapeyronie site) to accommodate further modernization operations. These preliminary arrangements include the construction of new parking and a modernized heliport but also the securing of the site's power supply by the construction of a new emergency power station. Overall, this first phase of work currently amounts to nearly 112 million euros.

A project financed by the European Investment Bank
Montpellier University Hospital has requested the EIB's support for the financing of its modernization and restructuring operations. The EIB therefore responded favorably to this request by granting the hospital a loan of 55 million euros on attractive financial terms.

This funding is part of the EIB's priority action for sustainable infrastructure that has a direct impact on people's daily lives. As the largest European infrastructure financier in France, the EIB has invested 7.8 billion euros in investments since January 2016 in support of the development of modernized and sustainable infrastructures in the areas of urban transport, ultra-fast broadband, teaching with colleges, high schools and universities, and hospitals. More than 50% of the projects financed by the EIB in France concern the financing of infrastructures, which is beyond the European average.

Health is also a priority sector of activity for the Bank of the European Union with nearly 5 billion invested in this field in France since the early 2000s.
