Publish Date : 09-Nov-2017

A world leader in handling construction risk, Hill International, has secured a European Investment Bank (EIB) contract funded by the European Union (EU)'s Neighbourhood Investment Facility.

The contract will see the company providing project management and technical aid support services for the Cairo Metro - Line 3 project.

The six-year deal's estimated value to Hill is $4.4 million.

The Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) is building g this new mass transit system in response to an expanding population and escalating traffic and roadway issues.

Included in the transit masterplan are six metro lines, two of which have been completed (Line 1 and Line 2) and a third (Line 3), which is partially in operation. Line 3 is being built in phases.

Waleed Abdel Fattah, senior vice-president and managing director of Hill's North Africa Region, said, "Cairo is the largest city in Africa and ranked as one of the most densely populated cities in the world. This metro system will have an immense impact on Cairo's traffic congestion and the quality of life of its citizens. We are extremely proud to be part of such an important initiative."
