United Arab Emirates : US$ 34 million Dewa substation contract awarded to Siemens

Siemens Energy has secured a contract from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. The contract worth EUR 26 million is to construct a turnkey 132 kV/33 kV high voltage substation.

The contract includes switchgear, power transformer, shunt reactors and a monitoring system.

Construction of the substation will be done in Mushrif, Dubai in place of existing Dewa infrastructure and supply electricity to strategic customers such as the Dubai Royal Air Wing terminal and leading shopping malls located in the area.

Head of Power Transmission Middle East at Siemens, Mr Wolfgang Braun stated that, “We have the necessary know how and project experience for creating turnkey high voltage installations. Depending on the project specifications we take on responsibility for the whole project from planning, erection to commissioning and handover to the customer.”

The turnkey project would comprise of 132 kV gas insulated switchgear, the 8DN8 Enhanced.

The project is scheduled for completion within a year and a half. The project includes a 132/33 kV 75 MVA power transformer four 40 MVAr shunt reactors, entire complete balance of plant equipment, civil design and construction works.
