United Arab Emirates : Drake & Scull signs $38million contract for Rocco Forte hotel
Publish Date : 21-Mar-2012
A $38million contract is been inked by Drake & Scull International (DSI) to provide turnkey mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) services in Saudi Arabia. It will take up the work at the Assila Towers project, in Jeddah, a five-star hotel and serviced apartments development to be operated by Rocco Forte Hotels.
Soon, DSI is expected to commence work on the site which is likely to complete by June 2013. Al Saad General Contracting will be serving as the main contractor on the site.
The two-tower 19-floor hotel would feature 159 rooms, with adequate suites, and around 50 serviced apartments. It also includes a 90-seat restaurant and a second 70-seat fine-dining venue along with a business centre and 700m2 ballroom, and 1000m2 of conference space.
DSI CEO Khaldoun Tabari said, “We expect commercial development to achieve an accelerated growth pace in Jeddah, being the largest sea port on the Red Sea and the most cosmopolitan of all Saudi Arabian cities.”
He added, “This will in turn drive the growth of construction activities and subsequently increase demand for integrated design, engineering and other specialised construction services.”
