Leading professional services and engineering consultant, WSP, has been appointed by Marlow Foods to carry-out work on a new fermentation tower project in Billingham, County Durham.

WSP will undertake the design and construction of the new tower as part of a 35million project called BQ5.

When completed the tower will form part of the production site which already employs more than 100 people in the Teesside area.

Marlow Foods are most commonly known as the manufacturers of Quorn products which has seen a substantial growth in popularity as a healthy and sustainable option for people it is now the third fastest growing food brand in the UK.

WSP will provide project and design management as well as procurement and construction management services over the next two years as part of the project.

WSP Industry Director, Glen Slaymaker, said: WSP Industry are delighted to have been awarded the BQ5 project by Marlow Foods. Securing this project continues our fantastic working relationship with Marlow Foods which now spans almost an entire decade. It also demonstrates the great work carried out by our existing project team and selected partners at the Belasis site in Billingham. We look forward to the successful delivery of this project which is scheduled for completion during the early part of 2020.
