China,Russian Federation : Chain and Russia Sign The Joint Declaration of the Joint Feasible Studies on Completing Eurasian Economic Partnership Agreement

On June 8, 2018, witnessed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Putin, Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan and Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin signed The Joint Declaration of the Joint Feasible Studies on Completing Eurasian Economic Partnership Agreement between the Ministry of Commerce of China and Ministry of Economic Development of Russia in Beijing.

The Joint Declaration of the Feasible Study on Eurasian Economic Partnership Agreement between China and Russia was officially launched in July 2017. After numbers of discussions and exchanges among various levels of officials, both sides reached consensuses on the specific areas which will be negotiated in the Eurasian Economic Partnership Agreement, recommending that the two governments launch negotiations on service trade, investment, natural person mobility, e-commerce, IPR, competition, transparency, energy saving and efficiency enhancement, economic and technological cooperation, SMEs, government procurement, institutional arrangements and trade in goods.

During President Xi Jinpings visit to Russia in July 2017, China and Russia released the Joint Declaration of further Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination in Moscow, stressing the promotion of the docking between the Belt and Road construction and Eurasian Economic Union and expecting the progress of The Joint Declaration of Feasible Study on Eurasian Economic Partnership Agreement. This joint declaration is an important step forward to implement the consensuses reached by the two leaders. Next, both sides will fulfill necessary domestic procedures and start to negotiate in due time. This will help promote the establishment of a comprehensive and high-level investment arrangement that will be open to other economies in Europe and Asia in the future.
