The Ministry of the Interior announces three public tenders for the founding of non-governmental organizations operating in Estonia that would contribute to the goals set out in the Civil Society Development Plan within the next two years as strategic partners of the Ministry.
Strategic partnership is an effective form of engagement and cooperation promoted by the Ministry of the Interior from 2015. "Twenty years ago, civil society was the kind we wanted, and it is a natural provider of public services and a delight for communities. Our desire is for civil society to become even stronger. Therefore, we are looking for partners who want to support the development of this area and their country, "encourages the Chancellor of the Interior, Lauri Lugna, to participate in all competitions.
The competition is looking for three strategic partners with different focus. The aim of one partner would be to support the development of social entrepreneurship in Estonia and the increase in the quality of services offered by non-governmental organizations. Another focus would be to increase the volunteers' capacity to increase the capacity of non-governmental organizations and to raise the awareness of the Estonian population as volunteering opportunities. The third strategic partner would work to make funding NGOs more diverse and more transparent and to involve NGOs in policy-making more thorough and better.
In the last four years, the Estonian Village Movement Kodukant, the Social Business Network and the Association of Free Alliances (EMSL) have been strategic partners of the Ministry of the Interior. In cooperation with Kodukanda, the recognition of a voluntary friend label has been created and has already been granted to 41 organizations by now. The Social Business Network has raised the issue of social entrepreneurship and today, compared to 2014, the number of social enterprise workers has increased from 1434 to 1603 (nearly 12%) and their business income is 29%. Under the leadership of the Association of Non-Governmental Organizations, a number of maps and analyzes of the transparency and diversification of NGO funding have been developed to help strategically make better choices.
