India,Qatar : India inks 6 agreements with Qatar

A total of six agreements have been inked between India and Qatar which include a pact on cooperation in oil and gas industry. The agreements were inked after a delegation level meeting took place between the Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Qatar’s visiting Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.

During the meeting the two sides talked over a range of matters which included the boosting of trade and investment as well as energy ties between the two countries.

Matters relating to the welfare of Indians working in the Gulf country were also discussed.

Following the talks, Petroleum Minister S. Jaipal Reddy and Qatar’s Energy Minister Mohammed Bin Saleh al-Sada inked a pact on setting a cooperative framework to improve bilateral cooperation in the sphere of oil and gas.

It is expected to boost investment and cooperation between the two ministries in the field of oil and gas and through affiliated firms.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also inked between the Reserve Bank of India and the Central Bank of Qatar.
