Singapore : ST Kinetics invests $3million in composite material research lab
Publish Date : 11-Apr-2012
ST Engineering\'s land systems arm, ST Kinetics, has invested $3 million to establish an Advanced Composite Engineering Lab (ACEL) at Singapore\'s Republic Polytechnic.
Officially launched on Tuesday, the laboratory will house specially customised equipment and facilities for the advancement of composite material research.
It will be dedicated to the research and production of composite materials that incorporate natural fibre, such as silk, as a component material.
Researchers from Republic Polytechnic and ST Kinetics will work together to research and develop novel composite fabrics for high performance applications in the aerospace, marine, automobile, textiles and sports industries.
Separately, ST Kinetics signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with A*STAR\'s Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, which will see both parties undertake research and development collaboration activities in the area of functional silk technology.
