Publish Date : 09-Aug-2018

The Government put in place the mechanisms of the tender for the award of the work of the El Tambolar dam, which, with an investment of 750 million dollars, will benefit 120 thousand families in San Juan and will contribute about 310.9 Gigawatt hours per year to the national energy system.

The announcement on the availability of the specifications was made by the Minister of the Interior, Public Works and Housing, Rogelio Frigerio, along with the Governor of San Juan, Sergio Uac, during a tour that they made through the place where the reservoir will be located.

Frigerio considered that the work "is one of the most important in the province and the most expected by the San Juan people since it will also generate more than 1,500 jobs at the peak of the work and make it possible to add 23,000 hectares of production to the province".

Meanwhile, Uac said it will connect "the beauty and the imposing of construction with tourism" and thanked "all those who are part of this great process, especially President Mauricio Macri and the ministers involved in the issue."

The dam, located on the San Juan River, is a multipurpose project of hydroelectric exploitation that seeks to store water for the supply of the population. In addition, it aims to increase the agricultural area of the Tulum Valley, Zonda and Ullum and the provision of new industrial ventures, while generating energy to reverse the province's energy dependence.

It is estimated that its construction will require about 60 months and the project foresees the dam, the spillway, the adduction tunnel, the powerhouse and various complementary works. The first stage includes the elaboration of the Executive Project of all the works and the construction of the camps and offices.

In addition, two parallel tunnels lined with reinforced concrete will be made on the right bank of the river, which will perform the function of diverting the natural course inside the mountainside and thus drying the area where the dam and its ADDITIONAL wORKS.

The Tambolar will be located in the vicinity of the town of Pachaco, 145 kilometers from the capital city along the current road and 20 kilometers upstream of the reservoir Los Caracoles.

The Secretary of Infrastructure and Water Policy of the Nation, Pablo Bereciartua; the national deputy Eduardo Cceres; and the provincial Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services, Julio Ortiz Andino.
