ViaLogy Plc, a provider of provides reservoir characterization, geophysical imaging and hydrocarbon sizing services to global oil and gas customers based on proprietary, patented active signal processing technology declared that it has entered into a deal with Indian oil company ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) to apply its QuantumRD technology in the country\'s largest offshore oilfield.
The company stated that it will concentrate on specific complex zones and target formations, which have frustrated conventional geophysical analysis techniques.
ViaLogy noted that with QuantumRD, the analysis process becomes a powerful predictive seismic exploitation technology to enhance conventional techniques. The main aim of the operational is to chart and exploit productive deepwater carbonate formations.
“ONGC\'s decision to deploy QuantumRD in this offshore field is a vote of confidence in a unique technology that makes use of weaker seismic signal data that cannot be accessed or exploited otherwise. Because we can achieve higher resolution in seismic, we can discern more subtle subsurface features, and help make more efficient drilling decisions with the goal of maximizing recovery and reducing the number of exploration and development wells that might otherwise be drilled,” said ViaLogy chief executive officer Robert Dean.
