Botswanas economy is one of the strongest in Africa and the country has one of the worlds highest growth rates, largely attributed to abundant diamond resources coupled with sound macroeconomic policies. Cattle rising and the export of beef and other cattle products and subsistence farming are the chief agricultural activities. Botswana is the world's largest producer of gem diamonds in value terms. It is also the world's most diamond-dependent economy. Deposits of antimony, sulfur, plutonium, and platinum have also been found. The export commodities include diamonds, nickel, copper, soda ash, textiles and meat whereas the country is presently importing foodstuffs, electrical goods, machinery, transport equipment, fuel, textiles and petroleum products, metal and metal product, wood and paper products.
