Eritrea Projects

The economy of Eritrea is largely based on subsistence agriculture, with 80% of the population involved in farming and herding. Eritreas industrial, agricultural, and service sectors are small-scale and underdeveloped. Copper, zinc, lead, gold, silver, marble, granite, barite, feldspar, kaolin, talc asbestos, salt, gypsum and potash are some of mineral resources found in the country. Petroleum resources though less in number are located on the borders of the country. Exports are limited and the country relies heavily on imports, including foodstuffs. The country's main trading partners are Italy, the United States, France, and Germany. There was a severe structural fiscal deficits caused due to excessive spending on defense as the country was in constant war with Iran. In the recent years Eritrea has taken several steps that have brought about a positive change in the economy.
