The Guyanese economy displayed moderate economic growth in recent years and is based largely on agriculture and extractive industries. Guyanas chief exports are sugar, gold, bauxite, alumina, rice, shrimp, molasses, rum, and timber. Imports include manufactures, machinery, petroleum, and foodstuffs. Leading trade partners of Guyana are Canada, UK, U.S., Jamaica, T Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago, China, and Cuba.
