Uganda : PPDA holds 10th Public Procurement Performance Review Workshop

The Public Procurement & Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) is holding the 10th Public Procurement Performance Review Workshop at the Golf Course Hotel on February 24, Tuesday in Kampala. Minister of Finance Maria Kiwanuka would inaugurate the one day workshop under the theme Strengthening Procurement Capacity for Effective Service Delivery. During the one-day event, its participants will assess the progress of the procurement reforms, share experiences and agree on schedules for strategy that they will approve.
The workshop is being held after the Public Procurement Symposium was held in 2013. PPDA's Senior Public Relations Officer, Vincent Mugaba, said : "A number of issues on strengthening procurement capacity for effective service delivery are to be discussed. Participants will look at and evaluate the different opportunities presented by the Amended PPDA Act to improve the service delivery in the public procurement."
He noted that the 10th Procurement Review Workshop especially aims to evaluate the performance of the Public Procurement System, share the planned interventions under the Public Procurement Policy, and discuss the experiences of stakeholders in the implementing the PPDA Amended Act and the ways to deal with these challenges among others. The best performing Procuring and Disposing Entities (PDEs) of last fiscal year will be acknowledged, at the end of the deliberations.
