Publish Date : 02-Apr-2015

Oman Power and Water Procurement Co. (OPWP) has released a tender to appoint a financial advisor to help in refinancing plan of Salalah Independent Water & Power Project (Salalah IWPP). SembCop Salalah Popwer and Water Company is the owner of the Salalah IWPP.

The net capacity of the facility, which launched full commercial operation in May 2012, is 489 megawatt (contracted capacity of 445 megawatts) and its contracted water capacity is 15 million imperial gallons per day. It is comprised of a gas-burning combined cycle power plant and a reverse osmosis seawater desalination facility.

Sembcorp Salalah has spent nearly $1 billion to develop, finance, build, own and operate the facility. It yields its revenues in line with a 15-year power and water purchase deal with the state-owned OPWP.
