WORLD BANK sanctions $5 Million to GAMBIA for improving health care services

Publish Date : 02-May-2015

An amount of $5 million has been granted by the World Bank in new financing for Gambia to improve primary health care services and enhance community nutrition for the nation's extreme assailable children and women. The project is hoped to get hold of around 77 000 direct beneficiaries (children under five and women aged 15-49 years) by 2019.

World Bank Task Team Leader for this Project, Rifat Hasan said, this project is novel and it combines the buying of health and nutrition outcomes from communities and health facilities via results-based financing.

He notified that by this reform, health facilities and communities are driven to work effectively and work together to enhance the delivery and mount the use of fine quality services for children and women’s nutrition and health.
